We have a spacious two-floor lab (236 m2 total) in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems building, with dry and wet lab space. There are modest fish rearing rooms supplied with dechlorinated tap water on both floors, as well as a patch-clamp rig, -80C storage and office space for graduate students.

Centre for Aquaculture and Environmental Research (CAER)

We have dry and wet lab spaces at CAER in West Vancouver (141.5 m2 total), as well as an extensive capacity for long-term rearing of fresh and seawater fishes, with dechlorinated freshwater, stream water, well water and seawater supplies. Two large, mobile Brett-type swim-tunnel respirometers (suitable for adult salmon), plus other smaller swim-tunnel respirometers are available here.

Seasonal research on migrating salmon is conducted at DFO’s Cultus Lake Research Station and Weaver Creek Spawning Channel.
